TimberSIL® is a sodium-silicate based process for wood that relies on a micro-manufacturing technology to create an effective barrier to decay, pests, and other common wood problems. Corrosion studies have shown that TimberSIL® has no adverse affects on fasteners. Ordinary exterior grade connectors and fasteners can be used, saving up to 80% of the cost of stainless steel fasteners.
